Key Points
1. Pursue Your Dreams No Matter What the Cost
Life will try and derail you from achieving your dreams.
It will present you with opportunities to quit, comfortable situations that you don’t want to leave, and even people who you love discouraging you from the pursuit of what you want.
But you must be willing to pursue your dreams no matter what the cost.
If you really want to achieve something, if your dreams are truly worth it, then you must be willing to accept whatever sacrifice is necessary for their attainment.
If you have to quit a safe and secure job with great benefits, then do it.
If you need to leave a relationship then do it.
If you need to postpone all of your “fun” time to hustle and grind for your goals, then do it.
Massive dreams require massive action and you must be willing to pursue your dreams no matter what they cost.
2. Understand the Importance of Leverage
One of the most important skills that you can develop is to develop a high leverage social circle.
What do I mean by this?
You need to make friends and meet people who know the people that you need to achieve your goals.
If you want to publish a book, then becoming friends with a best selling author would give you tremendous amounts of leverage and a plethora of contacts to help you on your journey.
This is not a selfish endeavor either.
It is simply a by-product of leveling up your social circle and remembering Jim Rohn’s advice that you are “The average of the five people you spend your time with most.”
The higher caliber social circle you can develop, the better you will be as a person (simply by osmosis) and the more leverage you will have to help you achieve your goals.
3. Who Do You Have as a Mentor?
One of the most powerful things that you can do to upgrade your life is to find a mentor who has what you want and is willing to teach you how to get it.
Similar to creating a high leverage social circle, finding a mentor will not only give you connections that you never dreamed of having, but it will also help you cut your learning curve in half and find blind spots that you may not have seen.
When you have someone who has “Been there done that” teaching and guiding you in life, you have the gift of foresight and will be able to avoid the common traps and pitfalls that many men fall into.
So who do you have as a mentor? If you don’t have one, find one.
4. Focus Requires Clarity
Before you can focus in on your goals and see them through to achievement, you must first become crystal clear on exactly what it is that you want.
Who do you want to be? What do you want to create? What kind of impact do you want to have? How do you want to do it?
Unless you have a very clear road map of where you want to go and what you want to achieve, you will never achieve success at the levels that you want.
You need to get massive clarity on what you want.
And I don’t mean writing down things like “I want a bigger house” or garbage like that.
Get clear!
I want a bigger house turns into “I will own the mansion overlooking the beaches in Hawaii at the address xxx Rd by this date.”
When you are super clear on what you want and how you are going to get there, the world will start to open up to you and the universe will come to your aid.
5. Don’t Plan Your Day (Design Your Week)
One of the biggest focus and productivity mistakes that people make is planning their days instead of design their weeks.
Whenever you plan your days, you become a victim of your (and other people’s) to-do lists.
Instead of having a theme and striving to achieve a certain set of goals, you are reacting to problems as they arise.
Take time every Sunday night or Monday morning to get clear on what you want to achieve that week and what you need to achieve each day to make that a reality.
Once you do this, your productivity and focus will skyrocket.
