“We will be the same person in 5 years that we are today except for 2 things: the people we meet and the books we read.” – Charlie “Tremendous” Jones
1. Be Authentic
No matter what your goals, dreams, or aspirations, there will come a time when you are tempted to compromise who you really are in order to fill a certain mold or portray a certain identity.
And it is in these moments of decision where your future will be shaped.
The world is filled with people who, while genuine in their intentions, put on a facade to try and meet whatever expectations that society, family, and friends have for them.
And this is one of the greatest mistakes that they can make.
Regardless of where you are in your journey, you need to remember that authenticity is the key to success.
It is essential that you stay true to yourself and live in a way that is totally authentic.
Sure, you can experience success, whether its with women, in business, or in your personal life, by “faking it”.
But how sustainable is this success?
True and lasting success requires an unfiltered and unadulterated commitment to being 100% you.
Be weird, be wonderful, be yourself… Because everyone else is already taken.
2. Find a Mentor and Take Massive Action
If you want to accelerate your results and achieve your goals faster than you ever thought possible, your first step should be to find someone who has achieved the results that you want and turn them into your mentor.
Whether this is an in person, virtual, or in the form of books, finding successful people and emulating their strategies and mindsets is one of the quickest ways to reach your goals.
You are willing to take massive action on what you learn.
Having a great teacher is not enough if you are not willing to put in the work and take massive action.
Put your shoulder to the wheel and your nose to the grindstone.
Once you know what you need to do, quit thinking and planning and start doing!
3. Talent + Passion = Results
The formula for success is simple, Talent + Passion = Results.
If you have a natural ability for something and a great passion for it, then you will be able to achieve results much faster than anyone who lacks one of these two elements.
Talent alone is not enough to make your successful.
Plenty of people are talented, plenty of people are smart, and plenty of people are naturals.
But what you will often find is that the same people who have a natural ability for something don’t have the passion required to turn it into something great.
The key to success is to find the place where your talents and passions intersect.
For example, maybe you were always a great writer in school, but you have no passion for becoming an author.
But you do have a passion for fitness and personal growth.
Why not combine your love of fitness with your love of writing and create one of the best darn fitness blogs on the planet?
Figure out what you are naturally good at and what you are passionate about and then combine those two ingredients until you achieve success.
4. Quit Quitting
Success favors the persistent.
If you are constantly quitting in business, in your relationships, or in your physical health, you will never achieve success.
Reaching true levels of greatness requires you to quit quitting once and for all.
You need to develop a stick-ability and a commitment that makes some people question your sanity.
Because here’s the simple truth.
You never know when you are three feet from gold .
If you had just stuck with it for one more quarter, you could have achieved 7-figures in revenue.
If you had just stuck with the marriage for one more year, you could have been in the most fulfilling and loving relationship ever.
If you will just stick with it, you will achieve success.
5. Be Single Minded in Your Goal but Flexible in Your Approach
Even though you should have a concrete goal in your mind that you are unwilling to waver on or quit, you need to be willing to have a flexible approach to achieving it.
One of life’s great joys is that you get to grow and learn along the journey.
This means that you may or may not have all of the information that you need at the beginning of your venture.
Let’s say that you started a business with the goal of generating six-figures in revenue.
Your goal was to do it by selling coffee in an ecommerce store.
But after a few months, you notice that your custom coffee t-shirts are generating more than double the revenue of your original product.
You need to be flexible and change your approach to your goal.
Be willing to make the necessary changes along the way and you will avoid the traps and pitfalls that most entrepreneurs fall into.
