The 5 Lessons from my Interview with Pejman Ghadimi

1. Discontent is the Greatest Motivation

Do you want to know the underground “secret” to success that most gurus, motivational speakers, and authors won’t admit?

Here it is…

Get really…really…really pissed of.

No, I’m not kidding.

Human beings are only motivated for one of two reasons. Pain and pleasure. And, unfortunately, we are more motivated to move away from pain than we are to move toward pleasure (think about how long it takes you to pull your hand back from a hot pan compared to how long it takes you to start eating a sugary dessert).

To achieve the success you desire and make the money you deserve, you must understand the realities of human nature and learn how to use them to your advantage.

Instead of fostering gratitude, excitement, and inspiration to live a better life. Develop a seething, burning, and indomitable frustration and discontentment with your current circumstances.

Tap into the visceral pains of your situation…the debt…the shitty living conditions…the embarrassment of having your card declined at the grocery store…the inability to provide the life you want for the people you love.

Because the simple truth is that anger and pain are far greater motivators than contentment and desire.

Use it as fuel to ignite your life and achieve the life you want.

2. Learn to Take Massive and Immediate Action

There is only one difference between the 95% of people who struggle for their entire lives and the top 5% who achieve everything they’ve ever hoped for (and then some).

The willingness to take immediate and massive action.

No matter where you come from, what challenges you’ve faced, or what’s standing in your way…you can overcome it by developing a strong bias toward massive action.

The problem is that too many people become mired in busy work and information. Instead of taking action toward their dreams, they listen to more podcasts, read more articles, and buy more courses…without ever using any of the information they discover.

Instead of sitting around and waiting for the “perfect time” or the “perfect” strategy, take what you learn and immediately apply it.

Want to start a business? Go write an article, launch a website, pull out your iPhone and record a basic product. Run a few Facebook ads, learn from your mistakes, and make changes on the fly. In 8-12 weeks you can build a business from the ground up and start generating revenue. But you’ll never make a penny if you simply think about starting your first business.

If you want to be in the relationship of your dreams, stop watching YouTube videos and searching for the perfect pick up lines…Go out into the real world, plant your feet in front of a beautiful woman, and introduce yourself.

Want to be in better shape? Stop stressing about whether you should follow the Keto diet or the buletproof diet or the paleo diet and start by simply throwing out your junk food. Instead of researching the “best” workout programs ad infinitum get on the ground right now and do some fucking pushups!

Go take massive immediate action and the rest will follow.

The faster you can take action, fail, and learn from your mistakes…the faster you’ll succeed.

3. Live Your Life the Way You Want to Be Remembered 

We are all ultimately dead men.

And the cliche YOLO (you only live once) is true. We are all going to die. Death waits for no man and none of know when or where we will leave this existence.

But if you do it right, one life is all you need.

When you wake up each morning, look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself a simple question…”If today were my last day on earth, how would I want to be remembered? And what action can I take today to be remembered in that way?”

Do you want to be remembered as the lazy, unambitious guy who skated through life, having no real mission, providing no real value, and simply existing? 

Or do you want to be remembered as a man who truly lived? A man who gave 100% every single day, who loved others with compassion, who stood for something greater than himself, and who did his best to leave the world just a little bit better than you found it?

Remember this principle and you will start to make drastically different choices then you do living for the moment.

4. Entrepreneurship is About Innovation Not Business

Despite what you’ve heard from the gurus and motivational speakers, being a business owner does not make you an entrepreneur.

As a business owner you might set your own hours, have your own clients, and create your own products. But entrepreneurship is about more than commerce. It’s about innovation.

It’s about creating solutions from nothing. Solving big problems. And doing something new.

An entrepreneur is someone who identifies a need in the market and develops a creative solution to solve that need. Anyone can flip houses, or sell used crap on eBay. But to find a unique problem and create an even more unique solution to solve it? That is entrepreneurship.

If you want to be a business owner, or a freelancer, or a traditional employee…there’s no shame in pursuing those paths. There’s no one “right way” to live or make a living.

But if you want to call yourself an entrepreneur you must become an innovator. You can’t settle for simply making money. You must make solutions and solve big problems.

5. Never Give Up 

I know, I know…cliche, right?

But it’s true.

The greatest men throughout history were all faced with seemingly impossible challenges. They were all put in situations where failure seemed inevitable. But all of them, without exception, chose to persevere and find a way…no matter what.

In the pursuit of any great or important goal, you will be tempted to quit. To give in to ease and comfort. To give up when the going gets tough.

My challenge to you is to persevere.

To refuse to accept failure and to pick yourself up no matter how many times you fail.

There are no guarantees in life. And you may never achieve the success you truly desire. But you have to try.

Because the pain of failure and loss are nothing when compared to the pain of regret.

The pain of persistence, of walking through hell with no end in sight is nothing when compared to the pain of sitting on your deathbed and wondering, “What if?”
