1. Your Associations Determine Your Reality
Jim Rohn once said that “You are the average of the give people whom you spend time with most”, and as overplayed and over-quoted as this statement is, it remains one of the greatest truths of life.
If you regularly spend time with 5 millionaires, you will almost inevitably be the 6th.
If you regularly spend time around 5 runners, you will almost inevitably be the 6th.
If you regularly spend time around 5 smart and insightful people, you will almost inevitably be the 6th.
We as humans rise to the expectations of our circumstances and if you are surrounding yourself with high quality people who push you to succeed in every area of life, hold you accountable and do not accept b.s. excuses, you will succeed at a level you never thought possible.
2. Find Solitude to Level Up Your Life
One of the greatest travesties of our modern culture is that we have become a culture of disconnected connection addicts.
Whether we are trekking through Yosemite under a beautiful starry sky or walking across the beach, we are never more than a fingerprint scan and a button tap away from “connecting” with the rest of the world.
But this over-stimulation has caused us to under-connect with the most important person in life…. Ourselves.
We no longer take the time to be alone with our thoughts.
We no longer value the ability for a man to stand alone for days or weeks on end and face his inner demons.
But if you truly want to excel in life and as a man, you must learn to make time for solitude. Time where you can be alone with your thoughts, time where you can sit and contemplate in peace.
Time where you can get to know you.
3. Embrace the Heroes Journey
If you want to break out of the mold, escape the rat race, live a life of adventure, and truly move towards your 10/10 life, then you must embrace your heroes journey.
The process will be long and arduous. In fact, it will probably be painful more times than it is not.
You will have to leave behind the comfort and ease of the life you knew before and you will be forced to embrace a new way of living… a new way of being.
On your heroes journey you will be required to find mentors, to overcome obstacles, to doubt if you even have what it takes to succeed.
This is all part of the game.
Embrace your path to success and accept the challenges as they come.
At the end of the day, the juice of life is in the challenge.
