If you doubted your fears instead of doubting your dreams, imagine how much in life you’d accomplish.” – Joel Brown

Key Points

1. Cast a Vision

The first step to creating real change and success in your life is not setting goals, but rather casting a vision for where you want to go, what you want to achieve, and who you want to be.

Instead of worrying about the exact amount of money that you are going to make, what body fat percentage you will have, and how many women you will sleep with, focus on the ultimate vision for your future life.

What do you really want in your life?

Do you want financial abundance? An abundance of women and connection?high-level network? A freedom-based business that allows you to work and travel?

What is your vision?

Where do you want to take your life over the next several months, years, and decades?

Once you have the vision, the goals will take care of themselves.

But without a compelling future and a compelling vision, your goals will remain unachieved.

2. Get Out of the Environments that Aren’t Serving You

If you are currently in a job, relationship, business or even an area that doesn’t empower you, then get out.

Now.

There are no “But’s” here.

That which does not empower you and elevate your life has no place in your life.

I want you to take a moment right now and think of everything in your life that is detracting from your goals and is no serving you.

Maybe it’s a nagging girlfriend.

Maybe it’s a job that you hate.

Maybe you are living in a shared house with a bunch of low caliber roommates who are diminishing your dreams and ambitions.

Whatever it is, I want you to commit now that you will get out.

I don’t care how hard it is or how uncomfortable it makes you.

Do it now and never look back.

3. Figure Out Where You Passions and Talents Intersect

Many gurus tell you to “Follow your passion”.

But the unfortunate reality is that many of us are passionate about things that we totally suck at.

For Joel, being passionate about the NBA is not enough for him to actually become a professional basketball player.

He doesn’t have the physique, height, or talent to make that work.

However, his passion for personal development intersects beautifully with his talent for writing and building a community.

And thus Addicted 2 Success was born.

In your own life, make a list of all of your passions and talents and figure out they intersect.

With this combination, you will increase the odds of success while guaranteeing that you enjoy the journey.

4. Empower Other People and You Will Empower Yourself

As cliche as it may sound, the key to getting is giving.

If you want to live a greater and more empowered life then you must start by helping others live in a more empowering state.

When you take the focus off yourself and find ways to serve the world, you will find that opportunities present themselves like never before.

5. Keep Experimenting

Life is one big experiment.

Outside of basic morality and man-made laws, there aren’t really any rules or guidelines to the experiment.

And as a part of this grand experiment, it’s your job to try new things, to constantly test out ideas and push the envelope on what is possible for your life.

Never stop experimenting and trying new things.

If you start a business and it fails, then go start another one.

If you ruin a relationship, take what you have learned and apply it in the next one.

There are really no failures in life, only new experiments with different outcomes.

So, just like a mad scientist, keep experimenting until you reach the outcome that you want.
