9 Easy Ways to Radically Transform Yourself Before the Year Ends

What the hell happened to the time?

The year is almost gone…

September is upon us and, before you know it, 2018 will be too.

Life is passing most of us by … but we’re too preoccupied with the daily grind to even notice.

And it’s scary, isn’t it…

But it doesn’t have to be.

Instead of letting another month, another day or another MOMENT go by where you aren’t living to your highest potential, where you aren’t following your passions, and where you aren’t showing up as powerfully as possible, it’s time to make a change. Why would you want to wait?

Why would you want to wait?

If you are thinking the New Year’s ritual of a resolution is going to make the difference in a few months, just think of what has taken place since the last January 1 goal setting.

The time is NOW.

Take charge over the next four months, and you will transform your life!

Here are 9 easy ways to transform your personal growth before the year ends.

1. Actually Stick to that Training Regimen You Keep Talking About

“A feeble body weakens the mind.” ~Jean-Jacques Rousseau

You know it doesn’t count to only declare a health goal or resolution. And it doesn’t count to just carry that gym membership card in your wallet, with the flaky phrase, “I’m starting next week.”

You actually have to work out.

You have to move your freaking body.

It’s up to you…. And you can do it.

Staying faithful to a training regimen will make the difference.

Nothing will have a bigger impact on your life than your health and fitness. This is the only body you will get this lifetime; take care of it and your life will transform.

And if you need a little extra push? How does making a few billion dollars sound?

A recent CNBC article reported that 76 percent of the wealthy exercise at least 30 minutes daily. The story listed five billionaires whose daily regimen includes exercise.

Richard Branson – (tennis, running, kite surfing, biking) “I seriously doubt that I would have been as successful in my career (and happy in my personal life) if I hadn’t always placed importance on my health and fitness.

Mark Zuckerberg – (work out first thing in the morning) “Doing anything well requires energy, and you just have a lot more energy when you’re fit.

Oprah(10,000 steps a day and yoga) “I try to do something every day that allows me to feel active.

Mark Cuban – ( an hour of cardio) “I have to go longer than anyone who started before me.

Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter – (21 minutes daily) “It allows a steady state that enables me to be more effective.”

No more claims of “starting next week,” find the exercise that works with your personality and stick to it.

It will change your life.

2. Meditate 10 Minutes a Day for Only 10 Days

“You should sit in meditation for twenty minutes a day unless you are too busy — then you should sit for an hour.”  ~Author Unknown

It may be counterintuitive to believe sitting still and taking no action will help you get results in life, but it’s true.

Finding that still part of yourself, beyond the hustle and bustle of your monkey mind, will get great results, courtesy of Art of Living

  • Reduce stress and anxiety.
  • Foster clear thinking, focus and creativity.
  • Increase empathy and compassion.
  • Lower high blood pressure.
  • Improve the immune system.
  • Increase happiness.
  • Expand consciousness.

Anyone interested in any of those? Would these turn your life around in any way?

Start simply.

According to many experts, including super successful author and entrepreneur Tim Ferriss, seeing results with your meditation practice requires you to habitually meditate for 10 consecutive days.

Morgan Dix, writing for DoYouYoga, says, “The most important thing is to just start. The next most important thing is to be consistent. You are trying to set a new groove here. Starting simple is a great way to go.”

So in order to get more time and energy in your day, take the time and energy to be still. Give it a go and then go the extra mile to see best results.

3. Keep a Gratitude Journal for 30 Days

“Gratitude is the sign of noble souls.” ~Aesop

Time to retrain that brain of yours, especially if it habitually focuses on the negative or lags too long on misfortune.

Your mind may get stuck in these traps:

  • The painful experiences of the past.
  • All those people who dissed you or betrayed you.
  • The failures in business and relationship.
  • What you have NOT accomplished so far in your life.
  • The fortunes you have NOT amassed.
  • All the toys and gadgets you do NOT have.

Untie the “Nots”

To overturn the negative influence of this thinking, you will have to untie those “nots.” No longer focusing on those “NOTs” or what you DON’T have, move from the negative to the positive, from lack to abundance! To train the brain to see the glass half-full rather than half-empty, start a gratitude journal. Do it for 30 days.

My personal journal protocol:

  1. Start the day with 10 things I’m grateful for in my life.
  2. End the day with 10 things I’m proud I accomplished during the day.

Whichever form your journal takes, give this powerful practice a go for one month, and you will be amazed at your new mind, full of the positive and optimistic.

4. Wake Up at 5 a.m. for 21 Days

“Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them.”  ~William Arthur Ward

You’ve heard the phrase “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, and wealthy, and wise.” That classic line is still around for good reason.

What are you telling yourself about your career and your life when you sluggishly get up in the morning, hitting the snooze button just enough times before it’s too late to get to work?

  • I don’t want to get up.
  • I don’t want to do what I have to do during the day.
  • I don’t like my life.

Sorry to break it to you, but that’s one shitty attitude that will only get you one shitty life.

Wake up!

And while you’re at it – wake up early

Get a good head start.

“The early bird gets the worm.” That’s another classic line that is still around for a reason.

Besides a worm, here are seven other reasons to start the day early, courtesy of Health Ambition:

  1. Better grades.
  2. Sustained healthier diet.
  3. Enhanced productivity.
  4. Better mental health.
  5. More time to exercise.
  6. Higher quality of sleep.
  7. Enjoyment of quiet time.

This is an incredibly simple yet incredibly challenging habit to implement.

I promise you though, if you are willing to stick with it for 21 days, your life will change.

5. Stop Watching Porn

“Porn promised us freedom, yet we became enslaved. Porn promised us intimacy, yet we only found isolation. Porn promised us excitement, yet we eventually ended up bored. Porn promised us ‘adult entertainment’ yet we became increasingly juvenile.” ~ Matt Fradd

OK, I know that I said the items on this list were going to be “easy,” so I might have fibbed a little bit.

Quitting porn, however difficult that might be, is one of the most important things that you can do to step into your masculinity and live your life to the fullest.

All those flopping boobs and genitals may seem to keep you “up” and satisfied, but the overall results may be stealing your life energy and wrecking your relationships: a recipe for a disastrous life.

Results of quitting porn, courtesy of Reboot Blueprint, include:

  1. Have great sex again.
  2. Increased energy and drive.
  3. More time.
  4. Increased confidence and self-esteem.
  5. Being more social.

I could devote a whole article just to this topic… And actually, Andrew already has.

6. Read These Three Books

You don’t have all the answers right? So get some help from those who embody the wisdom that will support you. There are many great books on the market. These three will change your life as a man:

1. Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins

The passionate speaker and author provide a step-by-step program teaching the fundamental lessons of self-mastery that enables readers to discover their true purpose, take control of their life, and harness the forces that shape their destiny.

Achievers rarely, if ever, see a problem as permanent, while those who fail see even the smallest problems as permanent.

2. Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss

For two years, the podcast The Tim Ferris Show hosted more than 200 world-class celebs (Jamie Foxx, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc.) athletes, legendary Special Operations commanders, and black-market biochemists, and surpassed 100 million downloads. The book holds distilled tools, tactics, tips, action steps and life lessons.

The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

3. The Way of the Superior Man by David Deida

In The Way of the Superior Man, Deida explores the most important issues in men’s lives – from career and family to women and intimacy to love and spirituality – to offer a practical guidebook for living a masculine life of integrity, authenticity and freedom.

Every moment of your life is either a test or a celebration.

Gather as much wisdom as you can from these rich books. You will be richer for it.

7. Spend at Least 5 Hours a Week with Someone Who Inspires You

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”  ~Jim Rohn

Everyone needs a lift, a boost.

Amp it up, get pumped up and get inspired by someone who inspires you.

You know who these people are. They bring you up. You feel good around them. You feel energized after spending time with them.

And they inspire you for a reason. Spending time with them will help resurface that part of you who reflects the same sort of greatness.

Don’t think you have to ask that same fave person for an entire five hours in a row each week. He or she may claim that to be a bit much if not determine you to be a stalker.

Mix it up. Choose different people over different days. But do find those five hours each week where you are in the presence of inspiration and greatness – it can only encourage your own.

And if you really need a push? Then I strongly recommend that you hire a high-performance men’s coach to keep you accountable and help you step your game up in every area of life.

8. Quit Social Media for 30 Days

You may not realize how much social media swallows your energy, time and efforts.

Like a sinkhole that steals pickup trucks and small houses, social media may be stealing away some vital life energy that you need to be successful and powerful.

So the plan?

Give it up for a month. Give yourself the gift of 30 days without these not-so-vital stories:

  1. The post of the cats dressed in hats on Facebook.
  2. The President of the United States’ latest tweet.
  3. The YouTube video of new amusement park rides, the POV version.
  4. An Instagram picture of your Starbucks barista’s mermaid outfit.

You can live without this for a few weeks.

And while you do, notice what else you can do with your life.

It just may transform you!

9. Chill Out

“To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don’t grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead, you relax, and float.”  ~Alan Watts

Saving the best for last.

Seriously … Our lives seem like a constant ball of stress wrapped up in anxiety and sautéed in depression. So what can you do with that?

Just chill the fuck out.

Here is the most simple step. Hardly takes any effort or time at all. In fact, it may be the absence of effort.

All it takes is an attitude shift and a willingness to:

  • Be patient.
  • Trust you are doing enough.
  • Pat yourself on the back for what you have already accomplished.
  • Go easy on yourself so that you can actually accomplish the things that you said you were going to do.
  • Chill the fuck out. Oh, wait – we already said that. Even so, it’s a good idea. Worth repeating. Just do it.

Conclusion

In conclusion, forget the limp New Year’s resolutions based on a bunch of false bravado, rife with unintentional ego and “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
